How to split PDF

1. Choose the PDF you want to split.
2. Pick a mode: every page as its own PDF, pick ranges, or chunks of N pages.
3. If you are picking ranges, type them in, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10.
4. Download your new PDF, or a ZIP if there are several files.

How to write page ranges

Page numbers here are the position in the file, counting the first page as 1, whatever number is printed on the page itself. Separate items with commas and use a hyphen for a run of pages:

• 4 gives you page 4 only.
• 1-3 gives you pages 1, 2 and 3.
• 1-3, 5, 8-10 gives you pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10 in one new PDF.

This is handy when a 40-page contract only needs pages 1 to 2 and the signature page sent back, or when you need to share one month from a year of statements.

The three ways to split, and when to use each

Every page as its own PDF gives you one file per page, bundled into a ZIP. Use it when each page is a separate document, such as a batch of scanned receipts or letters scanned in one go.

Pick ranges makes one new PDF containing only the pages you list. Use it to extract the useful part of a long document.

Chunks of N pages cuts the file into equal parts. A 30-page PDF in chunks of 10 gives three files: pages 1-10, 11-20 and 21-30. This suits upload forms with a page or size limit.

Split or delete pages?

If you want to keep most of the document and throw away a few pages, Delete PDF pages is quicker: tap the pages to drop and download the rest. Split is better when you want the pages you name, or when you want several files out of one. Your original PDF is never changed either way, and it stays on your device throughout.
