Using the tools
Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in your web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox all work.
Is there a limit on how many files I can do?
There’s no daily limit and no sign-up. Very large files (for example a PDF over about 200 MB) can be too much for an older phone’s memory. If that happens, try on a computer.
Where do my downloads go?
On iPhone and iPad, downloads go to the Files app, in the Downloads folder (tap the download arrow in Safari’s address bar to see them). On Android they go to the Downloads folder. On a computer, they go wherever your browser saves downloads.
Can I get a file again later?
Yes, for 7 days. Every file you download is kept in your own browser on the Recent files page. It’s private to that device and browser, and you can switch it off.
The first HEIC conversion took a few seconds longer. Why?
Some browsers can’t read iPhone HEIC photos on their own, so the first time you convert one we load a decoder (about 0.5 MB). After that it’s cached and quick. Safari on iPhone and Mac can usually read HEIC directly, so it’s fastest there.
Privacy and security
Are my files uploaded?
No. Your files are read and processed by your own browser, on your device. They are never sent to our servers or anyone else’s. You can test this by loading a tool, switching on flight mode, and using it.
What do you know about me?
Very little. We count page views and which tools are used, without cookies and without storing your IP address. If you contact us we keep your name, email and message so we can reply. Our privacy notice has the full detail.
Is it safe to use for payslips, bank statements or ID?
Because nothing is uploaded, the file never leaves your device while you use our tools. That makes this a sensible choice for private documents. As always, keep the files you download somewhere safe.
When something goes wrong
It says my PDF is password-protected
Some PDFs (often bank statements) are locked with a password. If you know it, use Unlock PDF to make an unlocked copy, then use the other tools on that copy.
My image won’t convert
The file may be damaged, or in a format your browser can’t read. Try a different browser. If a HEIC file won’t open, try Safari, which reads HEIC natively on Apple devices.
A tool isn’t working
Please tell us through the contact page: which tool, what device and browser, and what happened. Don’t send us the private file itself.
